John's Change
We see many people in life that are different, but this one man has a life that is unique. John was an average man that had a regular life. His daily routine was to go to work every day except on the weekends. He works as a city garbage man or as respectively speaking, he is a sanitation engineer. His work life is, what you might say, not exciting. John only does his job for the satisfaction of getting a salary and not being unemployed. Well, to be honest, even though John is a sanitation engineer, he is a person that does not like to recycle.
Looking at John’s normal life was easy to understand, but is disliking of recycling can be a shocker. He does have a reason why he does not like to recycle. John finds recycling to be inconvenient because he doesn’t feel like putting in the extra effort. To be simple, John is a type of guy that works, if he is getting paid for it.
One day that all changed. A volunteer girl from Earth911 recycling organization had come by John’s house to encourage recycling. But John had no interest in what the girl was trying to do, so he slammed the door in her face. Even though she felt bad, the girl wasn’t done with John yet. She came by John’s house every day, until one day she was actually invited in.
After talking with the girl, John had finally realized that recycling was very important to humans and the earth. John learned that recycling reduces waste in landfills and conserves natural resources. One benefit that really helps John is that some programs are giving money for recycling old things that one might throw away. That day John had learned a huge lesson about recycling and thanked the girl for helping him realize is. Lastly John asked for the girl’s name and she told him it was Hope.
